The Republicans are Weak on Terror

Fri Aug 31, 2007 at 05:52:43 AM PDT

The Republicans are weak on terror because they are too incompetent to fight it properly, endangering the people of our nation.  Look below the fold to see how we can turn this against them.

It's time we re-framed the fighting terrorism debate.  Whenever anyone opposes the current administration's "war on terror" the reply is that we are soft on terror, implying that we do not want to fight the terrorists.  The question is not whether to fight terrorism, but how.  This is something the Republican party and this administration have failed at miserably.  A brief list of their fighting terrorism failures:

  1. Failure to heed the warnings about the 9/11 attacks.
  1. Inability to capture Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks.
  1. Invading Iraq, even though there were no weapons of mass destruction and no connection between Iraq and 9/11.
  1. Screwing up the Iraqi occupation in ways we are all too familiar with.

It is ultimately a matter of competence.  The Republican party and this administration are unfit to fight the war on terror, and they are unfit to solve the problems they have created.  We need to pound them on this until the American people are convinced that the Democratic Party is the only party that can protect them from the threat of terrorism.  Only then will the electorate be comfortable handing us the reins of power.
