AP: "Pressure on Democrats...to Compromise" on Iraq. Bulloney!
Wed May 02, 2007 at 05:40:54 AM PDT
The Associated Press seems to think that since the President has vetoed the Iraq war spending bill it is up to the Democrats to compromise.
Come see why this is bull**** and how nothing will ever change in Iraq until the mainstream media stop their love affair with this president. AP Article Says Dems Must Compromise on Iraq
The offending paragraph from an AP article written by CHARLES BABINGTON and posted at 7:52 AM on 5/2/07.
"Bush's veto of an Iraq war spending bill that set timelines for U.S. troop withdrawals puts new pressure on Democrats in Congress to craft a compromise even as their caucus grows more fractious on the topic."
So much bullshit in one sentence!
The Democrats were propelled to victory in November because the American people want an end to the war in Iraq. Poll after poll show significant majorities of the American public want a spending bill that has a timeline for withdrawl in it. So when the President thumbs his nose at the will of the American people by vetoing this bill, why then is it the Democrats who should compromise? It is the Republicans who should be compromising because they are the ones who led us into this failed war, and they are the ones out of touch with the will of the American people.
And you gotta love the "fractious caucus" idea. Our caucus is quite united in wanting to end this war and bring the troops home. Is is only when talk of compromise arises that the caucus becomes fractious...with good reason! The American people put us into the majority to end the war in Iraq. If we fail to do so we will be abrogating our responsibilities to them.
What is most bothersome about this article is that this sort of bullshit gets written at all. The press seem to think that the Democrats have done something wrong by standing up to the decider-in-chief, and now we have to atone for it by compromising. It's like we are all bunch a children and if we do anything to make the President mad we should expect to be sent to bed without our dinner. The love affair the MSM have with this President and the deference they are still paying to him are part of why this fiasco in Iraq has been allowed to continue. It is only when the AP and other mainstream media outlets realize that the mainstream of Americans oppose this war that anything will change. Now, how do I cancel my subscription to the AP? :-).
